Luke Rowe has today been announced in Team Sky’s 9 man squad for the 2015 edition of the Tour de France. Luke will line up alongside Chris Froome, Richie Porte, Leopold Konig, Pete Kennaugh, Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard, Wout Poels & Nicolas Roche, with the team’s objective to win the Yellow Jersey for a third time in the last four years.

Luke, aged 25 will be making his Tour de France debut in what is his 4th year as a professional rider with Team Sky and he will be the only debutant in Team Sky’s line up for the race.

Luke’s position in the team has been achieved following a number of notable results and performances over the last 18 months, especially in the Spring Classics and last year’s Vuelta a Espana where he also rode in support of Chris Froome. His performance in this year’s Paris-Roubaix, where he came 8th will hold him in good stead for Stage 4 of this edition of the Tour de France as it uses six sections of the famous Paris-Roubaix cobbles.

Luke said, “To be selected to ride in the Tour de France is the realisation of a lifelong dream, and to be doing it with the biggest team and best team leader in the World makes it even more special. Personally, I can’t wait to get stuck in, especially in the first week where the conditions and parcours are most likely to suit my riding style.”
