Dan Bigham won the LeCOL “King of the Chilterns title” in Sunday’s Penn House Hill Climb

Despite wet conditions, the Beeline Bikes RT rider managed to post an incredible 1.48, to claim the LeCOL polka dot Jersey against ex. National champ Tejvan Pettinger in the final Head to Head of this knock out competion.

To qualify, riders from the first individually timed ascent then progressed into heats and Matt Burton of VC Rutland posted the next fastest time against Bigham but had to be content with an eventual 4th as he did not win to go through to the title ride off, with Brighton Mitres Gareth Thyer just edging third in a thrilling sprint.

The Head to Head formula proved popular with a large crowd cheering the riders all the way up the slopes on this private country house estate in the heart of the Chilterns.
