News – Circuit of the Fens 2/3

Despite being obliged to cancel the Circuit of the Fens Pro-Elite Classic, organiser Colin Coe has managed to salvage the support race for 2/3 cats. on Sunday 26th July. ‘Despite benefiting from a rolling road closure and police escort, it was only after protracted negotiations with BCHQ,that we finally gained a permit for 100 riders. Consequently we can now accommodate another twenty 2/3 cats’.

The 76 mile race will start at 12 noon from ‘The Five Alls’ pub in the village of Benwick, and cover 8 laps of a new 9.5 mile circuit, originally intended as a part of the Elite route. The terrain is spirit level flat but it won’t be an easy ride. Surfaces are generally good but as typical fenland roads, bumpy in places. The ever present winds across the Fens can usually be relied upon to break up the field too.

Three fully equipped neutral service vehicles will be in the convoy together with a race ambulance and broom wagon for the unfortunate ones. There will be sprints each lap with an overall prize as well awards for the first 10 finishers.
