Trainsharp Press Release

The trainSharp Inspire Talent Programme (ITP) is a bespoke coaching experience with the sole aim of helping young riders achieve their dream of being in a position to gain a Professional contract. We are in a very privileged position, working with some of the biggest elite and pro teams in the UK and on the continent. Along with our world class training sessions, mentorship, the riders drive and determination and top contacts within cycling, we aim to equip the rider with all the skills required to be an Elite cyclist within four years.

Turning pro is not just about numbers, it is also about results, networking, being in the right place at the right time, ensuring you make yourself marketable through your social media and being ready for that “job interview”.

Trainsharp Inspire Talent riders are given help and guidance on all of the above and more.

The ITP has already shown successes with James Shaw (below) signing for Lotto Soudal Pro Cycling u23 Team at the start of the 2015 season and more recently, Alex Braybrooke, currently riding for trainSharp coached Junior Team, HMT Academy has also signed for Lotto Soudal for the 2015/16 season.

trainSharp have calculated that to be in with a chance of turning pro, you would need to be able to average 5.5 watts per kilogram (W/kg) for an hour. This is a tough target and no rider would be able to hit this figure without some very serious, long term, dedicated training; but it is achievable.

We understand that there is a lot more to becoming a professional cyclist than being able to produce high power numbers (and specifically, high power to weight figures), but W/kg is a tangible measure to track progress. With this in mind, we work closely with both the rider and their parents in ensuring that the rider works closely on their cycling CV, focusing on race results, power data and physiological data as obtained through trainSharp’s comprehensive range of tests.

If you are a young rider with the passion and determination to turn professional, then you could be in with a chance of being included on the trainSharp ITP. Each rider will be required to undergo an interview process which includes a number of physiological tests and a one-to-one consultation with trainSharp Head Coach, Jon Sharples.

We are very proud that we are starting to interview riders for our Inspire Talent Programme for more information on how to get involved in this exciting and exclusive opportunity, click the link below to take you to our Inspire Talent Programme page.
