After a successful racing career, James retired after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and has spent the year as Sports Director for Neon Velo and coaching a number of riders under the Trainsharp umbrella.

James McCallum said of the move “When the opportunity arose to join ONE Pro Cycling it was a very easy decision for me. It was clear seeing how the team operated all year that they were going places with their professionalism and the way they do things. I can’t wait to get involved, it promises to be a very exciting journey”.

Chief Executive for ONE Pro Cycling, Matt Prior, commented: “As we look to build the team for what promises to be a very exciting 2016 we are very pleased to have James onboard. Not only does he bring a lot of racing experience but he is exactly the right character for what we want at ONE Pro Cycling. Our staff and management are key to creating the right environment for our riders and the success of the team. James will be a huge asset as we step up to Pro Continental racing”.

James will join the team this week as they head to France and then Holland for races and will also be part of the management for the upcoming Tour of Britain, which starts on Sunday 6th September.

His team in 2015, Neon Velo had this to say on Jimmy’s move to a UCI Team, “We’re pleased to announce Neon Velo Sports Director James McCallum will be progressing to a UCI Pro Continental Team for the remainder of the 2016 and the 2017 race season.”

“James has been a great asset to the team and we’re please that Neon Velo was able to provide an opportunity for James to progress from respected and successful rider on to developing a career as a top quality sports director”.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank James for his dedicated professionalism and commitment to the team for 2016. The Neon Velo project has always been about developing talent and progressing both riders and staff on to the highest level of racing and management. James’s departure from the team is one of many future success stories.”
