Matt writes … With a week to go before the National 10, this weekend I took part in the Leicestershire Rc 10 mile time. Its a nice local race, and a good way of seeing where the forms at before the Nationals (Sunday, August 30).

I’ve just had a nice break in wales, and managed to get some really intense training in. I have to admit I’ve trained so hard for this race, trying to fire the top end power up ready for my title defence next week. Its a local race for me so the support should be amazing. I’ve done everything I possibly can to get there in great shape so I just need some luck on my side.

So onto Saturday, I managed to clock 19.30 and would love to say I was cruising but the weather was so hot I could hardly breath. I was just happy to get to the finish! It was a comfortable win over Scott Walker, who’s showing some good end of season form but I know I will need a lot more next week to take the win.

But win or lose, I know that arriving on the start line there will be no stone unturned.

All that’s lets to do now is put the final touches to my training and get ready to #smashitup next weekend
