Fierce competition over 3 stages of the Manchester Wheelers 2-day Stage Race was fought out at Tameside Cycling Circuit  on Saturday 29th August and the Oakenclough Road Race Circuit on Sunday 30th August. We all thought the 1.1km Prologue would have little effect on the overall – how wrong we were!

The crits were attacking races, with the women’s event slightly marred by a  couple of crashes, the worst of which was on the final lap. The road races on the tough Oakenclough circuit, whilst they split up, the main contenders were always in the front bunches, with Matt Cartlidge sneaking away for a great solo win, but without enough time to take the overall.

Some excellent riding across the board and the Men’s final G.C. coming down to the final place on the podium coming down to the Prologue time!
