1. With a new team sorted for 2016, what races are you looking forward to most next season?
Steve: All of it! Mega riders, mint calendar and a great manager (John Herety) who I’ve wanted to work with for a number of years. If I had to choose some races though, Tours of Yorkshire and Britain.

2. What were your highlights in 2015?
Steve: A highlight was winning the Premier Calendar/Star Trophy/Elite road series! But I really really wanted to win a round and I’d trade a round for the overall to be honest! But my highlight of the season was the last stage of the Tour de Yorkshire. Not only massive crowds but being in the select front group and with 300m to go, being on Samuel Sanchez’s hip but cramping horrifically! He finished 4th.

3. What race was the most fun in 2015 and why?
Steve: Every race ridden until the end of July when the wheels came off through illness!

4. Knowing what happened in the Tour of Britain this year, do you feel you will structure your season differently in 2016 and will the Tour of Yorkshire figure in your season goals?
b: The Tour of Britain is always a main season focus for myself but selection dependant, it will be a race to right all this seasons wrongs. Being ill wasn’t fun and climbing off on stage 5 was a horrible thing. Empty and emotionally drained.

5. Tell us about your winter training bike, what is different about it compared to your race bike?
Steve: I’m in New Zealand so I am on race bike! No need for mudguards here! But in the UK, I’m a fan of a traditional winter bike. Full guards!

6. How will you spend December on the bike?
Steve: Mixture really. Stephen Gallagher from Dig Deep coaching will send me horrific sessions to do! But it’s all new this year. I’m out in New Zealand, just north west of Auckland. Mike Northey lives a few kilometres away and Dion Smith and James Oram, One Pros new signings too. Not met up with them yet as not been here that long.

7. Cheeky Xmas: If you could have any cycling related Xmas present – what would it be!
Steve: Campagnolo corkscrew!

Thanks Steve, good luck in 2016!
