Team Press Release – Drops Women’s Team

Drops have today announced the news that Marijn de Vries will be part of their mentoring team for 2016. A gifted and experienced rider, Marijn started her cycling career later than most and joins the Drops team as a perfect role model for their more experienced group. In addition to her role as rider mentor, De Vries will also be the Drops team ambassador.

Marijn de Vries

“For me, it’s a great honour to help Drops Cycling Team, a brand new women’s team, with it’s first steps in to European racing. It’s my goal to help the girls prepare as well as possible for the races I used to race myself; I hope I can contribute to their results with my knowledge and experience.

“Women’s cycling is growing quickly now; I think it’s important to share all the things I’ve experienced as much as possible, so young riders can learn and become the best they can be.

“It’s great to see not just professional men’s cycling, but also professional women’s cycling is growing in the UK. I love how women’s cycling is becoming more international rapidly. That’s why I choose to help a British team, the more nations involved, the better it is for our sport.”

De Vries has a great deal of experience in international road racing, specifically in Europe. As a founder member of Strongher, it is clear she is a positive presence, a loud voice and a wonderful ambassador for not only Drops, but for women’s cycling.
