Xmas Feature – Tommy Bustard

RoyThame_Bustard-TourSeries

1. What races are you looking forward to most next season.
Tommy: Next season I want to really give it my all. I’m focusing on the bigger races. Stockton my home town is holding nationals so I’d like to try my absolute best to do a ride there.

2. What were your highlights in 2015?
Tommy: I didn’t really have any highlights to be honest as it was a nightmare season. But I did learn a lot about myself which I didn’t know.

3. What race was the most fun in 2015 and why?
Tom: I never thought I’d say it but the Otley crit was great crack. Really good atmosphere and it’s a local event too.

4. What’s the best piece of cycling related advice you’ve ever been given and who gave it to you?
Tommy: Someone very close to me back home asked once when I turned up at the blue bells in Boro for a group ride “are you a sheep or a wolf?” I didn’t really understand then. But now I look back and when it comes to racing and training, I’m a wolf!

5. Tell us about your winter training bike, what is different about it compared to your race bike?
Tommy: I raced on a Pinarello F5 this season which was just an amazing bike but my training bike is the razha, still a mega bike like.

6. How will you spend December on the bike.
Tommy: Xmas will be back home in Teesside. I will be on the be road that’s for sure. My training is a lot shorter now and intense since Scott Thwaites starting coaching me.

7. And a cheeky Xmas one … if you could have any cycling related Xmas present – what would it be!
Tommy: Lizzie Armistead LoL
