1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Sam: For me the first road race of the season will be Tour of the Reservoir 16th-17th April although I hope to do some local races beforehand.
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Sam: One race I’ll be targeting is the Lincoln GP 15th May for lots of reasons. I believe I can go well there, it is also a local race and the first road race I ever went to watch a few years ago now! I’m honoured to compete in the first ever women’s addition. Our team sponsors WNT are also title sponsors for the women’s race where equal prize money is on offer to the men’s race.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training? Long miles or cutting back to do top end efforts?
Sam: I’ve been racing our local cross league for most of the season, so now I need to get the miles in ahead our team training camp in Lanzarote early March.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Sam: This Christmas was my first in my own home and my mum bought us wallpaper which made me feel quite old! My favourite present was a pair of defeet merino wool gloves.
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Sam: Guess I’d have to say turbo time. Getting wet on the roads is ok but setting off in it isn’t great. My team edition Le Col gabba is a great piece of clothing though!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be?
Sam: The Giro Donna. (The Women’s Tour of Italy)
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Sam: Nutrigrain elevens bars
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race?
Sam: To be honest I don’t listen to music before a race!
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Sam: Normal brakes.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Sam: My team bike is a Specialized S-works Tarmac in matt black with custom TeamWNT graphics, Shimano Ultegra Di2 group set but running rotor 3D plus in power cranks with QXL rings and Hope carbon 45 wheels with custom WNT Hubs. The latter two company’s, Rotor and Hope, are team partners and company’s who both use WNT tooling to manufacture their parts. The bikes finishing kit will be a mix of Pro and Hope.
