Feature – Harry Godding Q & A

1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Harry: Late Feb/early March, probably a few local crits or local road races.

2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Harry: I’m hoping to perform strongly at a national B level after racing at a national A level last year. After an injury struck 2015, I need to get some confidence back and enjoy racing again. After coming 4th in the SE regionals a few years ago, I’d love to get the win, but would settle for the podium! Added to that, I’m also looking forward to smashing it up in Belgium as in previous years!

3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Harry: I’ve been doing some strength work over the winter whilst gradually building up the miles. I’ve kept some intensity in there but will really step this up towards the end of January and February.

4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Harry: Dolan DF4 Track Bike (still haven’t stopped smiling)

5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet? (if the latter, what’s your favourite tip to stay dry in the rain)
Harry: Jump on my MTB and go get dirty!

6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Harry: Tour of Flanders. Forget the Tour de France, this is where it’s at for me. Paris Roubaix a close second!

7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Harry: I have all sorts of weird cravings, depends on my mood!

8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Harry: How long is a piece of string? Basically anything that tickles my inner chimp.

9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Harry: Disc brakes all the way. If you applied your cars brakes in the wet and they didn’t work for three seconds it would fail it’s MOT. Go figure!

10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it? (include a pic or two if you have them!)
Harry: I will start the season on my trusty LOOK 695 with Dura-Ace DI2 and hopefully Zipps if I can afford them! When I get my cat 1 back, I may be upgraded to a Specialized Tarmac from Banjo Cycles!
