1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Jamie: The dates of my first road races are not yet confirmed but it will be around May time. As the dates are not confirmed, I am not sure which will be my first one, but it will be one of the National Youth Circuit races. However, my first track race of the season is the 19th of January at Newport Track League. My first bigger event is on the 30th of January at the Newport Icebreaker, which is one of three events.

2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Jamie: I have 3 targets for next year: National Youth Omnium Final; One of the National Youth Circuit Races; One of the Youth Tours

Which specific ones of the National Youth Circuit Races or Youth Tours are yet to be confirmed when the dates and gaps between races are considered. I have chosen these events because this year I would like to get onto the Olympic Development Apprentice and the British Cycling Junior Academy. To do this they look at results from races like the ones I have picked to peak for.

3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Jamie: Between now and my first race, I am doing both endurance rides and speed training, but I am not doing any top end efforts yet. I am changing my hours and training sessions/focuses weekly, based on my coaches sessions, so it is hard to specifically say what I am focusing on at the minute. I am just building my base.

4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Jamie: My favourite Christmas present has to be my Princess Pandora ring that my sister got me! I love it and you won’t see me without it! It’s nothing to do with cycling but it’s nice to feel girly sometimes when I’m off the bike!

5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Jamie: It depends how I’m feeling. Sometimes I don’t mind a longer turbo session, if I’m feeling in the zone, but otherwise it’s nice to get out of the house on my own, even if it’s pouring it down.

6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Jamie: The Olympics of course! It’s the ultimate dream of any competitive cyclist, I believe. To represent my country at an Olympic Games event would be my goal!

7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season?
Jamie: When I am racing, I always make sure I go to the shop before to get chicken sandwiches! I love them and it tastes so much better from the shops than when I make them myself!! I take two of these, a couple of cereal bars and an energy gel then I’m happy.

8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Jamie: When I’m getting into the zone on the rollers or turbo I have to admit I like to listen to a bit of Justin Bieber. I never used to be a fan of his but now I just love his latest songs, especially ‘Love Yourself’.

9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Jamie: I’d prefer normal brakes, only because then I could use any of my wheels and not have to worry about getting ones with disc brakes. Then, if I need to borrow wheels I won’t have to worry about getting some with disc brakes. I do think they are cool though, it’s just hassle when you are swapping around wheels.

10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it? (include a pic or two if you have them!)
Jamie: My road racing bike is an aluminium Cannondale CAAD10. My favourite parts of my Road bike have to be my Zipp handlebars and Zipp stem because it makes me feel really pro as I’ve always wanted a bit of Zipp on my bike!
