A snowy Milton Keynes Bowl staged the final race of the 2015/16 National Trophy and having sealed his title early on in the series Ian Field concentrated his efforts on the World Cup race in Lignières-en-Berry.

Nicholas Barnes took to the line and amongst good company finished in 7th place in the Elite men’s category. On the way up to Milton Keynes, Jody Crawforth was well up for the race but any hopes of the ground being frozen and the course being fast were dashed early in the morning.

“Having not had a good season I was keen to pull off a result in my last cross race of the winter. I got a good start but my legs just never got going in the mud. Massive thanks to the Hargroves pit crew again who worked hard on the jetwash. Overall, I’m disappointed with my results this season but when you don’t have the form there’s nowhere to hide in a cross race! I’ll have a bit of a rest now and look forward to riding in the spring and summer.” – Jody Crawforth.

Ian Field travelled to the middle of France for the penultimate round of the World Cup series. “After a solid start through the first pits in 32nd we were off and running through some technical off camber corners, a tangle of bikes and some time later I was down in the 50’s. It was hard work on such a course to make my way back through but salvaged some points by finishing 39th. With one round remaining in the Netherlands, Hoogerheide I am sitting 27th overall. A final race in the series to turn the bad things of this weekend around” – Ian Field

This coming weekend Nick and Ian will compete in the final round of the World Cup in Hoogerheide in the Netherlands. Both Have been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Championships the week after in Zolder (Belgium) so this will be their last race to fine tune their form before riding on the big stage on the 30th and 31st of January!
