1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Kieran: The first race for 2016 on my calendar is Chorley Grand Prix, but its towards the end of March so I’d like to get a few races in before that, so that I can get my legs up to speed. I’ve been looking at few races but will be either racing Severn Bridge or Pimbo Road race on the first weekend of March.

2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Kieran: I would like to target the An Post Race stage race, as this race attracts some of the best Continental Squads from around Europe and I feel the race will suit me as a rider. Alongside that I will be concentrating on Elite Road National Series as these are the biggest domestic races on the calendar and its a chance for me to be able to compete against some of the best riders in the UK. There’s some other UCI races on the calendar this year which will also be good to be able to place well in e.g. Velothon Wales, Cicle Classic and Beaumont Trophy.

3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Kieran: In January I’ve been out training in Calpe as I think it offers the best climate and diversity on the road for building a strong base. In February, I’ve got a Team Training Camp in Majorca which will be good to be able to get to know the rest of the team. I’ll be doing a mixture of long miles with intervals and also plenty of top end sprints and climbing efforts.

4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Kieran: Got to be a pair of Castelli bibtights I got given, which have kept me nice and warm on the cold and wet rides around the Peak District.

5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Kieran: Just got to man up haven’t you? The skin is waterproof after all! My best tip for staying dry would be to ride as fast as possible, so you’re not out in the rain as long.

6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Kieran: It would have to be Liege Bastogne Liege as its the oldest Classic and is full of history. I’d also love to have a dig in the Tour of Yorkshire as it passes about 2km from where I live.

7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Kieran: Don’t tell my Team Manager this but I can’t live without a good old Pepperoni Pizza and cheesy Garlic bread. It’s the perfect pre race food full of carbs!

8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Kieran: Anything really, but something with a beat to get you in the mood!

9. If given the option, normal brakes or discs?
Kieran: Normal brakes any day. I’ve had my fair share of crashes and wouldn’t want disc brakes thrown into the equation. Could imagine they could cause some pretty nasty injuries.

10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Kieran: I’m lucky riding for Neon-Velo Cycling team as we have some top sponsors on board. In 2016 the bike is a Giant TCR with Dura-Ace. The best bit has got to be that the bike comes with carbon wheels for training on which is pretty cool.
