Live: Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race

FinishoftheWadley

Jacob Hennessy gets the better of Lloyd Chapman (Pedal Heaven) who admitted to fluffing the gears for a for a finish he’s won on before and George Wood who was sprinting on flat tyre after puncturing in the last kilometre only three weeks after he was knocked unconscious and lost of a lot skin in an accident.

After having only 60 riders at the close of entries, there were 83 up to the time the riders lined up but for the first time on a a few years, only one UCI team, Pedal Heaven.

Second time around and a break gets a gap with George Wood who was at the front all day

Rhys Howells leads the early break.

The peloton at this point was cruising with Lloyd Chapman and Andy Lyons have a nice chat at the front (they had teammates in the break).

The break including Townsend, Webber, Wood, Godding and Hennesy

_2016_JockwadleyReport_05

Riders in the break were getting a little agitated as they attempted to get clear.

_2016_JockwadleyReport_06

The break coming back and some changes as Townsend drops back having ‘mare’ of a day.

_2016_JockwadleyReport_07

Whilst the break with some new firepower in it opened the gap up again, (below) the peloton was now really going for it

The leading group which would explode over the closing laps to the point only three were contesting the finish sprint for the win

_2016_JockwadleyReport_11

A chase group including former winner Andy Lyons got to within 45 seconds

_2016_JockwadleyReport_12

Racing again full gas was former World Champion Colin Sturgess
