Cavendish To Headline Six Day London 2016

After the success of the first Six Day event in London for 35 years in October 2015, Madison Sports Group has confirmed that the event will return between 25-30 October 2016. And hot on the heels of his spectacular World Championship Madison victory, Mark Cavendish has already confirmed he will ride.

“I couldn’t compete in last year’s Six Day, but went along as a fan – I almost had to be held back from jumping on a bike and joining in,” said Cavendish. “This year is going to have a lot going on, but a Six Day in London is something I am desperate to do. Winning the Madison the other week with Brad just made my mind up – that venue, that crowd and a Six Day, it’s a no brainer for me.”

Tickets will go on general sale from 25 March 2016 through www.sixday.com

Track centre hospitality will also be available, offering a unique perspective of the action directly alongside the riders’ compound and will include the chance to meet the riders and other special guests.

2015 saw a triumphant return of the Six Day format to its city of birth for the first time since 1980, with the Belgian pairing of Kenny De Ketele and Moreno de Pauw winning overall – the first of two Six Day victories for the pairing last season (with De Ketele winning three in total). The women’s event was won by World Championship silver medallist Malgorzata Wojtyra and the top Sprinter was World Champs bronze medallist Denis Dmitriev.

With the track centre DJ, party atmosphere and innovative lighting, the event was a welcome addition to the track calendar and widely praised by spectators and riders alike.
