News – Hillingdon Cycle Circuit
A much-needed increase in capacity at Hillingdon cycle circuit is taking place with the current construction of two link roads to give the option of two circuits from the existing one.

Director of Coaching, Education and Development for British Cycling, John Mills, said: “We are pleased to support the all-volunteer team that has built up a programme of organised events on virtually every day of the year, plus casual use outside these hours.

“Hillingdon, opened in 1995, is the oldest of the British Cycling constructed circuits so it is not surprising that it needs upgrading to support such a heavy programme of use.

“Importantly, it will relieve the pressure on Hillingdon Slipstreamers, the children’s club which uses the circuit but currently has a waiting list for new members. In recognition of the great work that has been done to develop youth cycling at the circuit, the leader of the club, Alison Grant, was recently awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Year Honours List.”

Chairman of the Hillingdon Circuit Users Group, Stuart Benstead, said: “We are most grateful that British Cycling have obtained the support of the London Borough of Hillingdon to make this £120,000 total project possible. The two circuits will enable all user groups to present a range of extra coaching opportunities within the time available.
