Team News: Madison Genesis in Normandie

Tom Stewart and Erick Rowsell remained in contention at the Tour de Normandie after three days of racing, as stage two saw the first attacks made on general classification. The 170-kilometre stage from Vernon to Elbeuf-sur-Seine began traditionally, with a group of four riders allowed to escape.

But as the break reached the finishing circuit, attacks began, bringing back the original escape as a new group formed at the head of the race. At the worst possible moment, Felix English had a mechanical and would be dumped from top-twenty on the road, to the last group of finishers.

At the head of the race, 11 riders were clear with a lead of over a minute, but the peloton ensured the gap remained manageable. Ultimately losses were limited to 23-seconds, with greater differences expected to be made as the race takes on what is expected to be the queen stage.

The first reshuffle leaves Tom Stewart 12th and Erick Rowsell 20th on general classification.
