News: Raleigh GAC sign Albert Torres
Press Release
Albert Torres is the Spanish Madison partner of Raleigh GAC rider Sebastian Mora and the pairing are the current European Madison Champions as well as bronze medallists alongside another Raleigh GAC rider, Morgan Kniesky (Silver) and the winners Wiggins and Cavendish at the recent Madison World Championship in London.
Torres has a formidable palmares and is a former World Champion in the Madison 2014 as well as being the winner in 2016 of the 6 Days of Rotterdam, with Spanish and now Raleigh GAC team mate Sebastian Mora. Torres also had two top ten placings at the Challenge Mallorca 2016. In one of those, the Trofea Playa de Palma this year, Albert was 5th behind Greipel, Bouhinni, Page and Sam Bennett so is no slouch in a bunch gallop!
A rider who knows Torres more than most is his Spanish and Raleigh GAC teammate Seb Mora who says of Torres, “for Albert, joining Raleigh GAC will give him new dreams and goals and we receive him with open arms. We expect to achieve a lot with Albert in the team. He has great enthusiasm and passion for his sport, and is a great athlete who will join forces with myself and Morgan and together we will be a forceful trio in the colours of Raleigh GAC. We will do what we can to give Albert everything he needs to keep progressing as well as feel at home in this great team with so much history.
Albert Torres (above right in Spanish colours): It is with tremendous pleasure I announce my signing with Team Raleigh GAC. The great interest shown by the team in me makes me very happy and riding for them also means I will be in the team with my Madison team mate and good friend Sebastian Mora. Thanks to the very fast negotiations, I can join the team quickly which will provide me with great motivation to progress and grow professionally in cycling. I would like to thank the team owner Cherie Pridham for making this signing possible.
Team Owner Cherie Pridham: Finally we can announce the signing of Albert Torres who will bring another dimension to the team. Along with Seb Mora, and French star Morgan Kneisky, we have three of the best track endurance riders in the world and we are certainly delighted to have the opportunity to work with them. Albert can now settle into the team and focus on racing from his new base in Derby, close to the Derby Arena, which is fantastic for our local sponsors.
