Raleigh GAC, Madison Genesis & Pedal Heaven headline the entry for the Totnes Vire Two Day this weekend

This weekend: Totnes Vire Two Day
Mid Devon Cycling Club’s Totnes Vire Two Day |Â Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April
The 2016 promotion is the 44th edition of this stage race promoted by the club and this year, like last, sees some of the top teams in the country travel to the race to continue their preparation for a busy season ahead.
The race origins go back to 1973 when the Mid-Devon Road Club first promoted a two-day event to mark the twinning of Totnes and Vire in Normandy. It has had many formats over the years and this year sees yet another revision. The race is using the roads used in 2013 but in a different stage sequence.
The Saturday racing is centered on Halwill Junction. The race opens with a road race over 6 laps of a 20 km circuit. It is followed by a 5 km time trial over an undulating road. On Sunday, the racing moves to Okehampton and 4 laps of a 28 km circuit – this was used, in part in 2012, and one elite rider described it as “the hardest kilometres I have ever ridden.â€
The Mid-Devon Cycling Club/Colin Lewis Cycles wish all competitors and race officials a safe and trouble free weekend.
