Madison Genesis for Manx International

Madison Genesis team manager Dave Povall has said the eight-man squad named for the Manx GP will be respectful, but not fearful of the World Tour opposition they will face at the second round of the Motorpoint Spring Cup.

Team Sky duo Peter Kennaugh and Ben Swift headline the 182-kilometre race, which completes three laps of the infamous Manx street circuit. Madison Genesis have been able to name a near full-strength team, which includes the core of the Totnes-Vire winning sextet.

General classification victor Matt Holmes, is flanked by Gruff Lewis – himself third in the event, and seventh at round 1 of the Men’s National series, the Chorley GP. Tristan Robbins replaces an unwell Joe Evans, while Erick Rowsell and Tom Stewart return from the Tour de Normandie for their first major domestic competition of 2016.

Speaking ahead of the race, Povall was cautiously optimistic – despite the inclusion of the two Team Sky riders. “Having riders the quality of Kennaugh and Swift starting will change the dynamic of the race – I don’t think it affects how we approach the race, but we are certainly aware of their strengths.”
