There was a one-two win for the Spirit Bikes team at the end of this 74 mile race with Tom Fitzpatrick and Jake Hales coming over the finish line together, with Hales getting the judge’s verdict.

On bright morning in rural Suffolk the field first split when a dozen riders broke away after 15 or so miles, with another six bridging the gap to join them.

With 20 miles to go Fitzpatrick (Spirit Bikes) and Tommy Power (Strada Sport) chipped off the break but were caught and on the second-last climb of Willisham Hill Fitzpatrick took off alone.

As the leaders crested the hill for the last time with less than a quarter of a mile to go, Fitzpatrick still led, but was fading and Barnabus Purbrook (London Dynamo) was gaining fast with Josh Green of Catford Equipe/Banks on his wheel.

Seizing the initiative, Hales abandoned blocking, got up to Fitzpatrick and the pair held off the rest of the break who were led in by Green followed by Purbrook, Lawrence Carpenter (Nunn/Sigma Sport) and Jonathan Harris (PMR).
