Event News – NFTO for Beaumont Trophy

Now in their third season as a UCI Continental team, NFTO will be fielding a strong and experienced team for the Beaumont Trophy race, which takes place on Sunday 19th June and is the final event of the three-day Cyclone Festival of Cycling, based in Northumberland.

NFTO will no doubt be looking to the experienced duo of Ian Bibby and Johnny McEvoy to make an impact on the race. Both have already found form this season on the kind of testing roads typical of the Beaumont Trophy: Bibby enjoyed a superb win in the Manx International Cycling GP earlier this month, whilst McEvoy leads British Cycling’s elite Spring Cup Road Series after three weather-lashed rounds. Expected to ride with Bibby and McEvoy are Rob Partridge, Dale Appleby, Rhys Lloyd and the highly rated NFTO newcomer, Josh Edmondson.

Organiser Peter Harrison said: “The Cyclone Festival of Cycling’s Beaumont Trophy welcomes NFTO to the event. It’s always exciting as the event gets nearer to see the line-up of stars taking shape and it’s clear from NFTO’s line-up that they have several riders with the potential to win the race. However, with the cream of the UK’s teams, plus some of Europe’s top riders competing, it will be a tough challenge for everyone.”

Tom Barras, NFTO’s Sporting Director, said: “The Beaumont Trophy is an important race for the team. It’s an opportunity to take on a high quality international field on home soil. As a rider, it was always one of my favourite races and I’m sure the team will be highly motivated to show what they can do on one of the toughest courses in the country.”
