RL360 Youth League Continues to Attract Large Numbers
Despite the constant threat of rain, there was another large turnout of 327 competitors at an overcast NSC last Tuesday night for round five of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s Youth League.
The novices enjoyed the best of the conditions with Jack Monaghan outsprinting Lucas Wootton and Jackson Roberts for his second successive victory. Leading girl Isabella Edwards pipped Jacob Dawkins and Daniel Coates in the dash for fourth, while the fast finishing Eli Dawson overtook Daisy Teare on the finishing straight to snatch seventh. Safiya Laagayed and James Cope rounded off the top ten.
Finbar McSevney rode away from the field to preserve his unbeaten record in the born 2011 & later age group. Bobby Kerruish was a safe second and Joel Prentice outran Macaulay Teare and Charlie Dormer in the race for third. Joshua Moffitt headed Bobby Kewley, Jacob Callister and Poppy Clayton over the line for sixth, with Bernat Munoz-Fite beating Dylan Honeyman in the race for tenth. Abigail Cowell won the bunch gallop for 12th.
In the born 2010 class Stanley Kinnish got the better of fellow frontrunners Brad Le Geyt and the impressive Lula Kinnish to pick up his first win of the series. Kylan Murphy was a lonely fourth and Harrison Skillan edged out Dylan Bullock in the tussle for fifth. Conor Madsen-Mygdal slipped past Illiam Thomas to grab seventh and Ffinlo Thomas held off chasing bunch escapee Liam Blake to claim ninth. Hugh Osborn took the six-strong dart for 11th.
Eddie Dillon outgunned breakaway companions Tom Pickavance, Cameron Hounsell and Jake Jones in the sprint at the end of the 2009 event. Zach Jones trailed in for fifth, while Harry Beattie was too strong for top girl May-Saa Smith and Henry Dormer in the push for sixth. Jonah Kenny kept the fast closing Abi Clayton at bay to nab ninth and Charlie Clarkson led the group charge for 11th. Newcomer Alice Elkins did well to finish mid field (26th) on her debut.
Four riders got away at the start of the born 2008 race and stayed clear to the finish where Alec Sorby edged out T.J.Teare, Freddie Griffin and Deaglan Blake for the honours. A second quartet fought it out for fifth with Fearne Bregazzi getting the verdict over Charlie Williams, George Kinnish and Joel Long. Edward Field ousted Bob Radcliffe for ninth and Leon Murphy was quickest in the seven rider rush for 11th.
In a hotly contested finish to the born 2007 class Cian Howard just managed to keep out Orry Lund in the final lunge for the chequered flag. Rio Kelly, Jordan Carter and Florence Griffin were not far behind in third to fifth places respectively, with Charlie scarffe and James Kinrade holding onto to sixth and seventh after losing contact with the leaders on the last lap. Jemma Quayle was a lonely eighth and Jess Pickavance overcame Ed Coole in the fight for ninth.
Owen Collins and Ivan Sorby escaped from a thirteen strong leading group to fill the first and second steps on the born 2006 podium. Aaron Corfield inched in front of Nicola Quaye to grab third and Samuel Devereau maintained station throughout the race to secure fifth. Nathan Kinrade led the rest of the field home in sixth spot.
Jonty Bregazzi notched up his second success in the born 2005 & earlier group, speeding away from James Devereau, Frank Kinnish, Dylan Sewell and Nathan Slack in the closing stages to bag maximum points. Tyler Annis was sixth and James Scott had the edge on Emily Kinley, Callum Salisbury, and Ella Griffin in the battle for seventh.
A group of six riders got away in the under 10 racing bikes, with Cian Jackson winning the final sprint from Owen Collins, Ivan Sorby, Cian Howard, Drystan Sewell and Orry Lund. Alec Sorby was the top under-8 in seventh place and Sophie Smith the first girl in 11th position.
Following a game of cat and mouse on the final lap, Zac Walker outsprinted Ralf Holden and Niall Colquitt for the top honours in the U/12 racing bikes. James Devereau led the chasers home for fourth, with Kiera Prentice taking the girls’ prize in seventh place.
Thomas Bostock continued his winning ways in the under 16 racing bikes, proving to be too fast for the nine other riders in contention for the final sprint. Tosh Teare was second followed by Adam Kelly, Lucas Mudie, Ben Christian, Will Draper, Adam Scarffe, Max Walker and Will Corkill. The girls’ honours went to Amelia Sharpe in 11th place, while further down the field relative newcomers Dan Sowerby and Brayden Roche continue to show marked improvement in 16th and 17th positions.  … continued after advert
