Win for Colin McPherson at week 7 of the Ford CC Go Race on July 21st

37 riders lined up on another warm evening in the 7th race of the series. Stuart Weatherley (Colchester Rovers CC) made a return to the series after dominating the primes in the first round back in April, winning both on offer during the race.

Some small attacks were made throughout the race, the most promising looked to be by the Shanney brothers (Daniel and Pete, Redbridge CC), but even their teamwork couldn’t help them stay away for long. The race came down to a bunch sprint but a crash last time up the hill caused splits in the peleton leading to a reduced group contesting the finish. Colin McPherson (Traversbikes) took his first win of the series this year with teammate Ross Courtnell also outsprinting Philip Turner (Hornchurch CC) for 2nd place.

With one race of the series left to go Neil Hughes (Velo Schils Interbike RT) has a 5 point lead over Robert Michell (Gateway CC), but with only the best 6 of 8 results counting their positions could swap. Robin Baker (Cycle Club Sudbury) appears to have a good lead in the Vets, but Colin McPherson only has 5 results so far so could take the lead with a good result in the last round. Jack Marshall (Barking and Dagenham CC) is leading the Juniors but needs one more result to qualify.
