Report & Results: North Midlands RR League
The penultimate round of this year’s NMRRL featured Groups B & C for the final races on the Torworth circuit in blustery conditions.

The Group B race saw some action on the first lap with James Mappin (Geared Up Cycles) & Adam Lathbury (Rutland CC) opening up a 30 second lead on the rest of the field.
The duo continued to work strongly together, holding the gap over the next 2 laps then increasing their advantage to 35 seconds with 3 laps to go. However, the conditions made it tough for just 2 riders to stay clear and with 2 laps to go the field was all back together and stayed that way for the rest of the race.
At the finish, Steve Bunting (Rutland CC) was a clear winner ahead of Joseph Law (Broomwagon RT) & Daryl Plant (Out of the Saddle CC) with Mappin still managing 4th despite his earlier efforts & Andrew Cutts (Team Bottrill) in 5th place.
Jack Rowland (Harworth & District CC) had already secured the Group B title with 2 races to spare. Bunting’s win ensured he stayed in 2nd place, with Law staying in 3rd. Plant & Cutts placings moved them into 4th & 5th places respectively.
In the Group C race, the tough conditions made it hard for any breakaway attempts and the only significant gap of any note occurred with 3 laps to go when William Hagyard, Alexander Prince (both Rutland CC) & Jacob Perkins (7 Hills CC) opened up a 12 second lead on the bunch, but the race was all back together soon after.
at the finish, Edward Davies (7 Hills CC) was the clear winner ahead of Robert Parker (TLI) & current NMRRL Veteran Champion Garry Hill (Dinnington RC) with Mark Barnard (Out of the Saddle CC) & Chris Ashworth (Sheffrec CC) rounding off the top five.
With one race to go, Barnard still leads the Group C Overall Standings but Davies’ win moved him into 2nd place, 7 points behind. Ross Limbert (BBM Revolution) is still in contention a further 8 points behind.
