Team News: Van Twisk stays with Drops for 2017

The 19-year-old Van Twisk was an integral part of this year’s squad and a really determined character.

As one of the youngest riders, she has shown what she’s capable of with an impressive 20th place GC finish in the Tour of Norway.

“For 2017, I would like to step my riding up to the next level and start to become more comfortable in the higher end races I have experienced a bit this year,” said van Twisk.

“I want to set specific aims and target races to perform well in and focus my training accordingly.

“I am looking forward to the season to start and can’t wait for more races and adventures with the ladies.

“It is so cool to be a part of Drops, I feel really lucky to be in a team with such a unique team spirit and ambition, and a setup which provides a pathway to race in the top races in the world.”

Team boss Bob Varney says “I’m delighted that a third Corley Cycles-Drops rider from 2015, will return for a third year. Abi continues to improve in all disciplines, and I’m thrilled to be working with her again in 2017.

“Whether it’s a stage race or a one-day classic, she has shown a maturity beyond her years, we’re all confident of another step up for her next season.”
