Scotland’s Katie Archibald brings her Olympic and European form to London to dominate women’s racing at the London Six
News: Women’s London Six

EUROSPORT commentator Rob Hatch hopes the women’s field at Six Day London can keep up with runaway leader Katie Archibald in the final two days of racing.

Archibald dominated the opening night of the women’s competition, winning all of her three races.
In the opening 10km scratch race she was one of four riders to take a lap on the field, before finishing it off in the final sprint. And she rode a textbook elimination race before trying a daring solo attack in the night’s final 10km points race to gain the vital lap and avoid having to sprint at the finish.
She did not have things all her own way, though, with fellow Scot Neah Evans finishing second in each of the races Archibald won, as well as setting the leading time in the flying lap at the half-way stage of the discipline. Hatch believes Archibald has the cunning, as well as the engine, to win the competition, but hopes she is made to work for it.
“I’m going to be looking forward to watching the women on Day Five because Katie Archibald dominated the omnium on the first day, can anybody live with her? Let’s hope so,†said the commentator. “I think she was really clever because she knows that she was tired after winning the two mass-start races early on.

“She’s not a pure natural sprinter compared to [Amalie] Dideriksen, for example, who was a world champion on the road, just weeks ago. “She knew when she had to go out and take the lap. She said she gambled and that gamble really did pay off. But Neah really has been good in the timed event, and she’s been the closest out of everybody else to Archibald in the mass-start events as well.
“She was really good in the points race although she wasn’t able to take a lap herself. I think if she has a good day on Day Five and Katie Archibald feels the force of that cold that was keeping her down at the start of the week – she said she might have just got lucky and accidentally tapered her training today – I think we’ll certainly have a more even day on Day Five.â€
