There are not many of these type of machines seen at a hill climb as its a labour of love to create the lightest weapon possible as well as a functional bike. In fact the winning men’s bike was a mix of wheels and components after a crash destroyed some of the bits to be used at the championship by Adam Kenway. The lightest bikes vary from under 5kgs to between 5 and 6 kilograms. Picking one up it certainly feels very light.

This bike of Nicola’s was sporting Edco wheels, some of the shallowest section ones with some riders on very deep section ones which was a surprise. The ‘project’ isn’t finished and Nicola said the orange cable has to go and be replaced by a red one!  Check out the jockey wheels! And they were not all the lightest components as it was sporting Garmin powermetre pedals….
