News: Maxxis sponsors NW Team
Kicking off its partnerships for 2017, global top ten manufacturer Maxxis has teamed up with 4 Star Racing to create Maxxis 4 Racing Team.
The Team, currently based in the North West, will be racing both nationally and internationally, throughout 2017, with hopes to further improve on its track success.
Although the line-up is yet to be finalised, it is expected to consist of experienced riders who have collectively seen great feats in previous years. This includes Alex Jones, who is back with the team in 2017, and development rider, Kieran Wynne-Cattanach, who recently placed fourth in the National Hill Climb Championships.
Maxxis sponsors an exclusive number of teams and individuals a year, with the intent to recognise some of the country’s leading riders who are contributing positively to their sport. Speaking of this new partnership, Maxxis’ managing director, Derek McMartin, said: “4 Star Racing has so far accumulated an impressive portfolio of success; one we expect to see expanded upon in the coming years.”
“Each year, we seek out emerging riding talents from across the country, who we feel will be brilliant ambassadors for the Maxxis brand, and given the extensive development of the team, we are very excited to have them representing Maxxis. We are delighted to be getting behind 4 Star Racing in 2017, and look forward to supporting the riders as they continue to excel.â€
Team manager, Ryan Forster, believes the team has all the right partners and riders in place to shine this year, commenting: “With Maxxis tyres joining us for 2017, it gives our team that much-needed confidence and grip in races, that you just don’t get with some other tyres”.
“Maxxis has been working with teams such as United Health Care Pro Cycling Team and Jelly Belly Cycling Team in the USA, both of whom have achieved great success. We hope this new partnership highlights the fact that we mean business and expect to achieve with Maxxis; not only next year, but for many more years to follow.
“We have such a perfect mix of riders for 2017. Everyone is really looking forward to the start of the season, which, for some, will be the UCI International Tour of Rhodes, and others the Eddie Soens. I’ve never seen a group of riders so eager to start the season!
“The team will be riding KTM Revelators, which we are very excited about; they handle exceptionally well and the power transfer is spot on. Add to that the use of the MET Rivale Helmet, and the support from 4 Star Bikes in Heswall, and the team is raring to go. It’s going to be fun!’
