News: Writtle University College teams up with OnForm

Writtle University College (WUC) and Team OnForm have formed a partnership that will enable WUC Cycling Performance degree students to compete as part of an innovative new cycling academy.

This exciting and revolutionary partnership is the first of its kind in the UK and will provide scope for Cycling Performance students to participate in organised cycling races and events, whilst receiving the support and guidance of industry experts as they continue their educational journey.

Team OnForm, who are located in Essex, are a new Cycle Race Team that has been established to provide opportunities for male and female cyclists, ranging from juniors to elite seniors. Team riders, which include current and former world, national and regional champions, will participate in high-profile national series events across the UK.

Mark Walker, who is the Cycling Performance degree Course Leader at WUC and has coached a number of world class cyclists, said: “It is a truly exciting opportunity for us to be partnering with Team OnForm and their highly experienced personnel. Our Cycling Performance degree is unique in that it provides students with the chance study a cycling-specific sports science degree whilst developing a career in cycling, whether that is in racing or the wider industry.

“The partnership between Team OnForm and our newly formed cycling academy will give students the scope to apply what they have learnt in the classroom within a professionally run cycling team.” … continued after advert

Simon Howes, Team Principal for Team OnForm, added: “Talent can take you so far, but without the right support and experience around you it becomes very difficult for you to progress. We aim to create a welcoming and safe team environment where, above all else, we care about the people involved.”

“Our partnership with Writtle University College and our focus on development has allowed us to create a team where staff, riders and sponsors can grow together. We believe it’s not about how strong you are or the number of races you’ve won; it’s about the right approach. Without it, you are not going to be able to achieve all you can.”

The partnership will be celebrated at an official launch event on Saturday 18th March at Writtle University College where there will be opportunities to meet the team, as well as learn more about Team OnForm and the Cycling Performance degree.
