Product News: Cycling Theme Mugs

Velotastic have been designing their own mugs for four years and recently brought their production in house. Their most popular collection are the retro mugs that are loosely based on old trade team jerseys.

Most of their inspiration comes from the owner, Paul Gregory’s love of the Tour and watching it on the TV as a teenager.

Paul says “As well as riding my bike, I love hearing about cycling’s rich history and stories from races. A lot of my inspiration comes from reading cycling books and watching classic races on the internet. Half the fun is working out what will work and how to capture what I want and put it onto a mug.”

Their mugs have been sent to countries as far away as Japan and Australia. Customers include pro riders, art galleries and many fans of the sport. The retro range currently comprises of eight different designs, with more in the pipeline.

• The Motleni Arcore mug – probably his most Eddy Merckx’s most famous team
• The Fausto Coppi mug has Il Campionissimo written on it and is in celeste blue.
• The Tom Simpson mug has the iconic chequer board design on it and a Union Jack too.
• The Brooklyn Mug – in honour of Mr Paris Roubaix, Roger de Vlaeminck
• The St Raphael Mug – One of the coolest teams in cycling history, with Jacques Anquetil written around the bottom.
• Le Cannibale Mug- Merckx’s nickname gained during his 68 & 69 seasons with Faema
• Blaireau – The nickname of five time Tour winner – Bernard Hinault
• eightysix – after one of the most famous cycling races ever.
