“The 65th running of Gosforth Road Club’s Sloan Trophy Road Race was blessed with near perfect weather conditions , which produced fast aggressive racing. After the usual early moves on the 12.5 mile circuit based at Stamfordham in Northumberland , a small break formed on the second of the laps, which was joined by a strong group of chasers on lap 3. This 12 plus group gained an advantage of nearly a minute on the peloton. On the final lap, Rob Carter of TS Race Team OTR made a superb solo attack near Ingoe, and soloed to an impressive victory over the last 5 miles despite the best efforts of the breakaway group.”
