News: Madison Genesis For Beaumont Trophy

Event Press Release
Madison Genesis have announced their team for the Beaumont Trophy international road race on Sunday 18th June. The race is the final event of the 3-day Cyclone Festival of Cycling taking place in and around Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

At the moment, the Madison Genesis team is expected to be Tobyn Horton, Erick Rowsell, Jonathan McEvoy, Matthew Holmes, Connor Swift and Richard Handley. However, there’s a busy month of racing before the Beaumont Trophy and the confirmed line-up is unlikely to be known until early in the week of the race.

Looking at the line-up, both Swift and Holmes made a big impression at the recent Tour de Yorkshire, with Holmes capping three days of strong riding with fifth place overall. Meanwhile, recent form in major domestic races also suggests that the team is riding well as a unit after Rich Handley’s fifth in the Chorley GP, and Johnny McEvoy’s fifth at the CiCLE Classic and six at the Tour of the Wolds

A spokesman for the Madison Genesis team said: “Rich Handley and Johnny McEvoy have both finished top five in this race before so we hope with their experience we will be able to step up to the podium and contest the win in one of the big one-day races of the British calendar.”

Organiser Peter Harrison said: “Madison Genesis have what it takes to do extremely well in the Beaumont Trophy, possessing several riders with the right sort of attributes to win the event. That means they have several options on the day, which gives them a useful advantage.”
