Huge Turnout for Round Five of RL360 Youth League
Conditions were perfect for the 335 competitors who turned out at a sun-drenched NSC last Tuesday night for round five of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s youth league.

In the born 2012 & later age group overall leader Poppy Clayton had to fight off a strong challenge from Cameron Eyres before taking the win. Seamus Hall ousted Charlie Quine for third and Oliver Kennington held off Kieran Binns in the rush for fifth. Tara Nelson edged out Austin Baglow, Gracie Evans and Isabella Edwards in the bunch gallop for seventh.

Aedan Le Roux led Aditya Varshney, Clodagh Briercliffe, Lukas Wooton and Isla Mulholland over the line to notch up his maiden success in the novices class . Lewis Stephens outran Elijah Clague for sixth, with Sophie Halligan, Jackson Roberts and Orry McSevney just behind in eighth to tenth places respectively.

Finbar McSevney went from the gun in the born 2011 class and was never caught. Relative newcomer Jacob Wilson beat Bernat Munoz-Fite in the battle for second and Charlie Dormer escaped from a chasing group of five riders to claim fourth. Leading girl Abigail Cowell overcame Erin Morgan, Toby Costain and Sam Wolstencroft in the fight for fifth, with Dylan Honeyman slipping past Bobby Kerruish on the finishing straight to bag ninth.

In the born 2010 category Stanley Kinnish got the better of breakaway companion Brad Le Geyt in the final dash for the chequered flag. Kylan Murphy outsprinted Billy Kneen to grab the remaining place on the podium, while Harrison Skillan came from behind to snatch fifth from Max Messenger and Daniel Minay. Conor Madsen-Mygdal, Liam Blake and Illiam Thomas completed the top ten.

A seven-strong leading group stayed together to the finish of the born 2009 event where May-Saa Smith came out on top in the dart for the line. Cameron Hounsell and Harry Beattie were second and third closely followed by Eddie Dillon, Tom Pickavance, Abi Clayton and Zach Jones in fourth to seventh positions. Henry Dormer pulled away from Matthew Hooper to secure eighth and Finn Collister spearheaded the main chasing group in for tenth.

Alec Sorby was strongest in the seven rider scramble for the number one slot in the born 2008 race. Freddie Griffin was the runner-up and T.J.Teare third a short distance in front of Joel Long, Charlie Williams, Deaglen Blake and Fearne Bregazzi. Laxey’s George Kinnish was a lonely eighth and Bob Radcliffe had the edge on Nathan Hubbard in the battle for ninth.

Cian Howard rode fellow frontrunner Orry Lund off his wheel on the penultimate lap of the born 2007 class and time trialled to victory. Rio Kelly outgunned James Kinrade for third and Charlie Scarffe maintained station in a safe fifth place. Jordan Carter rounded off the top six leader board and Jess Pickavance picked up the girls’ prize in ninth place.

In the born 2006 & earlier grouping Kiera Prentice attacked on the second lap and stayed clear to the finish. Lone chaser Ivan Sorby was a solid second and James Scott took the sprint for third ahead of Callum Salisbury, Mairi Harrison and Chloe Dillon.

Completing the double for the fourth time this season, Cian Howard rode away from the opposition to record another impressive solo victory in the combined under 8 and under 10 racing bikes. Charlie Scarffe got the verdict in the frantic bunch gallop for second place, with Charlie Williams seizing third ahead of Orry Lund, Freddie Griffin and Myles Le Geyt. The best girl was Fearne Bregazzi in 11th spot.

Frank Kinnish got past Drystan Sewell in the closing stages to nick fourth and James Scott had the speed to pip Callum Salisbury and Mairi Harrison for sixth.

The U/14 & U/16 racing bikes produced an exciting finale to the evening’s entertainment. A bunch of six riders eventually broke free from the pack with all of the big hitters making the selection.
