A CRASH which resulted in a rider being taken to hospital by ambulance led to the abandonment of round 10 of the South Staffordshire & Shropshire Road Race League.

This week’s round was the first of the series to be held on the traffic free closed circuit at Sundorne Sports Village in Shrewsbury.

Due to the size of the circuit the event was split into two races with the slower groups competing first before the faster riders.

With the first race together at the halfway point a touch of wheels led to four riders crashing and the race was stopped while an ambulance was called. The decision was made to abandon the event.  … continued after advert

The 11th and final round takes place next week at Penkridge in the Pete Biddle Memorial. Ben Joughin (Pro Vision Racing) will head into the final round knowing he has already secured the overall victory while Matthew Morris (Wolverhampton Whls) has also secured the veteran’s overall victory.

The junior and women’s overall victories are still up for grabs. Charlie Fisher (Newport Shropshire CC) current leads the junior’s competition ahead of Alfie Mortimer (Mid Shropshire Whls)

Steph Clayton (Mammoth Lifestyle) is currently leading the women’s competition by only seven points from Annie Stanford (Paramount CRT).

A prize presentation will follow the final round next week.
