A total of 203 competitors turned out at the NSC last Tuesday night for round 17 of Team RL360 Isle of Man’s Youth League.

Cameron Eyres returned from holiday to grab the top slot in the born under 12 and later age group, surging away from the field and soloing to victory. Charlie Quine edged out Kieran Binns for second and Oliver Kennington got the better of Henry Kinrade and Noah Hutchinson in the battle for fourth. George Lee came from behind to snatch seventh from Finley Quirk and Euan Kinnish, while Holly Davies led Poppy Clayton, Charley Skillen, Oscar Maddrell and Austin Baglow home to claim the girls’ award in tenth place.

Notching up his fifth win of the series, Jackson Roberts went from the gun in the novices event and was never seen again. Lukas Wooton and Lewis Stephens were a safe second and third, with top girl Clodagh Briercliffe beating Thomas McEvoy and Ewan Cubbon in the dash for fourth. Isla Mulholland was seventh and Jacob Wright outran Elliott Dowd-Williams, Holly Beattie, Naomi Nesbitt and John Quaye in the race for eighth.

In the born 2011 category Jacob Wilson rode away from the previously unbeaten Finbar McSevney to record his maiden win. Toby Costain ousted Alex McCullagh for third and Charlie Dormer stayed clear of Macaulay Teare and Joshua Moffitt to bag fifth. Bobby Kerruish held off leading girl Erin Morgan in the scrap for eighth and Samuel Kinnish came home alone to complete the top ten.

Continuing his recent run of good form, Kylan Murphy overcame a strong challenge from Liam Blake to secure his third successive win in the born 2010 class . Brad Le Geyt was a solitary third and Harrison Skillan pipped Ffinlo Thomas and Daniel Minay for fourth. Conor Madsen-Mygdal and Illiam Thomas grabbed seventh and eighth ahead of the fast finishing duo of Archie Mulholland and Max Messenger. The first girl was Rebecca Radcliffe in 13th position.

Just back from a trip to the USA, a tired Eddie Dillon still had enough speed in his legs to fend off breakaway companions Cameron Hounsell, Tom Pickavance and Abi Clayton in the sprint for the born 2009 honours. Harry Beattie headed Zach Jones and Henry Dormer over the line for fifth, with Max Davies maintaining station in eighth place. Matthew Hooper and Graihagh Morgan came in together to round off the top ten leader board.

Deaglen Blake and Alec Sorby slipped away from a leading group of ten riders to take first and second respectively in the born 2008 three lapper. Fearne Bregazzi outpaced Charlie Williams for third and T.J.Teare was too quick for Edward Field in the scrap for fifth. Bob Radcliffe, Lewis Quirk, Ella Darnill, Leon Murphy and Jamie Gibson trailed in separately to fill seventh to 11th places.

In the born 2007 event Cian Howard attacked fellow frontrunner Orry Lund at the start of the final lap and powered away to victory. Lund held onto second place ahead of fast closing chasers Oscar Gaylor, Charlie Scarffe, Jordan Carter and James Kinrade. Seventh placed Florence Griffin was the best girl.

An injection of pace in the closing stages split the field in the born 2006 & earlier grouping. Ivan Sorby shook off Mairi Harrison and Callum Salisbury on the finishing straight to take the win, with Nicola Quaye, Ella Griffin just behind in fifth and sixth positions.

Eight riders circulated together at the head of the under-8 & under-10 racing bikes. At the finish it was Orry Lund who took the sprint from Alec Sorby and Rio Kelly. Fearne Bregazzi was the top girl in ninth place and Cameron Hounsell the first under-8 rider in tenth spot.

The under-12 racing bikes started slowly with very few attacks. The race eventually got going in the build-up to the final gallop which Tyler Annis won. The hard working Niall Colquitt was second and Ivan Sorby third. Mairi Harrison, Nicola Quaye and Ella Griffin filled the top three steps on the girls’ podium.

In contrast to the previous race the under-14 and under-16 racing bikes was fast and furious from beginning to end. Nine riders eventually got away with attacks coming thick and fast from Tosh Teare, James Harrison and Will Corkill. However, no one was allowed to escape and in the end the final outcome was decided in a bunch sprint in which Dan Sowerby produced an impressive turn of speed to claim his maiden win. Series leader Max Walker was second and Will Corkill third, with Kiera Prentice the best girl in 13th place.

Please note that the league continues as usual during the Festival of Motorcycling fortnight, with rounds 18 and 19 taking place on Tuesdays 22nd and 29th of August.
