Team News: JLT Condor for Tour of Britain

Proven fast-man Brenton Jones leads a six man team in Britain’s biggest stage race (3-10th September 2017). He is supported in the leadouts by Russell Downing, Ali Slater and Graham Briggs. Ian Bibby and James Gullen complete the line-up.

James Gullen, a bronze medallist at the National Time Trial Championships, is targeting the time-trial on stage five. It will be the first time the 27-year old has been selected to ride the prestigious race. Ever the opportunist Ian Bibby is targeting breakaways throughout the eight day race.

“Ian’s ability to attack and climb over rolling terrain and finish well from a breakaway will help provide the team with options especially if a breakway move cannot be drawn in by the sprinters,” explained John Herety.

“Brenton has taken stage wins this year in the Tour of Taiwan, Korea, HSBC UK Spring Cup and in various criterium events. He and Russell work well together in leadout scenarios, everyone is motivated to cap off the team’s most successful year with a bang.”

Performance manager, Tim Kennaugh explained that cycling fans would be able to get closer to the action “It is hard to predict how it will go, the terrain is challenging but there are some big sprint names that may want to attend, especially as the World Championships aren’t far off. Everyday could end in a sprint.”
