Transfer news: Rose to Cervélo Bigla

The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team is pleased to announce Claire Rose to its roster for next year. The British time trial champion says winning the national championships is the highlight of her career and is joining the team to build on her TT ability.

“I am super excited to be joining Cervélo Bigla next year, I see it as an incredible opportunity to step up, learn from and be part of some of the best in women’s cycling,” Rose said. “The team also has a big focus on time trialling and the team time trial which are two of my favourite events. It was great talking to [Team manager] Thomas Campana and hearing his passion for both them and the team.

I have always been impressed at how the team operates and rides at races with riders not afraid to give everything for their teammates. The level of partners and sponsors the team has is impressive and I am looking forward to working with them.”

Team manager, Thomas Campana explained the signing. “We’re adding Claire to our successful group of talented and ambitious riders, and we believe she will reinforce the TTT and ITT group. She’ll also be adding value to our team leaders and the strength of the group for the different characteristics of the World Tour races. I believe with Claire we have signed a great addition. The team and its partners goals have always been to play a major part in the TT discipline.

Every year the group is improving and we’ve just added another piece to the puzzle. It is also important for us to keep a good balance between young talented and more experienced riders.”

Rose says some of her 2018 objectives include the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships among others. “The role I see myself playing is protecting another rider, being in or chasing down a breakaway, or leading out in a sprint finish for Lotta [Lepistö]. Next year I am aiming to help the team continue its World Tour successes and also target the World TTT Championships. I would also love the opportunity to race the Women’s Tour and be part of a team victory at home in the UK.”
