Team News: Simmonds/Grinczer re-sign for WNT

Somerset based Grinczer, who has progressed race upon race, finishing third overall at the 2017 Ras na mBan, having taken a third place in the time-trial and fourth on the mountain stage. To add to this, Natalie gained two UCI top 20’s on stages at Elsy Jacobs and Emakumeen Bira respectively, proving her stage racing abilities are flourishing after a year in the pro ranks.

Simmonds (above), a stage winner at the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour followed by a third place overall on the general classification, proved that she’s moulding herself into more than just a time triallist, having climbed with the best in the world at Emakumeen Bira in May to finish 6th on stage 4’s mountain top finale.

After representing Great Britain at last month’s World Road Race Championships in Bergen, Norway, Simmonds says… ‘I’m really happy to be staying with Team WNT for 2018. It was a very successful first season for the team at UCI level as well as for me personally. I really appreciate having a team set-up that allows me to focus on my training and racing, and puts my needs as an athlete first. I am looking forward to an even more successful year with the team in 2018.’

Sports Director, Graeme Herd speaking on Hayley’s return for 2018, ‘We are delighted Hayley has continued as part of the team. She had a great season this year with a stage win at Thüringen and selection for Great Britain at the World Championships. We look forward to building on that success in 2018.’

Natalie Grinczer, the perfect shepherd, guiding Katie Archibald through the hilly stages of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, says… “I’m really excited for another season with Team WNT Pro Cycling. The team continues to go from strength for strength and I’m looking forward to stepping up to the challenges ahead.”

A qualified physiotherapist Grinczer is keen to continue her progress and build on what has been a successful season. Graeme Herd said ‘Natalie returns to the team in 2018 after a season of progress this year. With strengths in hilly courses and time trials we will look to build on her potential in the UCI stage races next season.’

Hayley and Natalie are the next two riders to be announced for 2018, after the announcements of Mel Lowther, Aafke Soet, Hayley Jones, Lydia Boylan, and Lin Teuntenberg.
