News: Next Stop Manchester for Team KGF

Team KGF will take on the best cycling nations in both the Team Pursuit and the Kilometre TT at the Manchester World Cup this weekend

Team KGF arrived back in the UK safe and sound on Monday and after a quick turnaround are now in Manchester to prepare for Friday and re familiarise themselves with the board of the National Cycling Centre. The team look forward to having another opportunity to prove they are able to be medal competitive at world class level and perform to their very best.

Charlie Tanfield said: “It was great to show the potential that the team has in Poland. Hopefully we can translate this to a result in Manchester in front of a home crowd.”

Dan Bigham said: “Poland was bittersweet. We have the ability to stand on the podium but we need to translate that in to a result. We have implemented a few changes to our race strategy that are a bit left field but we’re confident they will work. It’s pretty cool to be riding in front of a home crowd, so hopefully we can put in a solid performance!”

Jonny Wale said: “The sensations are good and I’m feeling relaxed ahead of the weekend. I’m looking forward to putting a mark down in the kilo on Sunday, especially with such a top field in the event.”

Jacob Tipper said: “It’s really exciting to race a world cup event in the UK. We have a few changes we will make to optimise our performance ready for the weekend, and hope to build on our 7th place in Poland.”

The team have high ambitions and risky tactics with a ride or die mentality. These unfortunately did not secure them a place in the bronze medal ride off at Poland despite having the ability to be there.

Jonny Wale will also make his debut appearance in a World Cup kilo Time trial following his recent success breaking the British flying kilo record and Scottish kilo TT record at Glasgow with a 1:01.8.
