CHERIE PRIDHAM RACING PRESS RELEASE

Cherie Pridham Racing will be on new bikes in 2018, after the team and Raleigh UK agreed by mutual consent not to renew their partnership, following more than half a decade of sustained success.

While the loss of an iconic brand like Raleigh is sad, both Cherie Pridham Racing and Raleigh UK agreed the time was right to adopt new strategies in pursuit of new goals.

Team Raleigh was formed in 2010 by Raleigh UK Ltd and was taken over by Cherie Pridham Racing in 2011. The squad enjoyed seven years of success as Team Raleigh, racing on the British marque’s flagship Militis racing bike, and winning the prestigious, year-long National Road Series for men multiple times, as well as the Elite Circuit Series, the London Nocturne, the Lincoln GP, and numerous rounds of the televised Tour Series.

Pippa Wibberley, MD at Raleigh UK commented “Of course it is with some sadness that this era comes to an end. We will be building the Lapierre brand in the UK for performance road and MTB customers and making the most of the investment in the FDJ Tour de France Team.

The Raleigh brand is very much focused on commuters, leisure and family riders which means our marketing focus and investment must change to suit. We are extremely proud of the success we have had in partnership with Cherie and I would like to thank her and her team of behalf of everyone at Raleigh UK”.

Team Principle, Cherie Pridham added “Raleigh UK’s support for a sustained seven-year period has been incredible. I have so many great memories from these years, that there are almost too many to list here. It has been an amazing seven years with Raleigh, and I want to thank everyone who supported us. Now, we have an exciting new project in the making, and we are looking forward to 2018 with a new energy and ambition as a new UCI Continental team. Watch this space!”.

The team now sets its sights on 2018, with new goals and ambitions, and global brands backing the squad’s aims and aspirations on the roads of Britain and beyond.
