News: Andy Critchlow Signs for HJL

HJL is a new race team on the block founded and owned by Steve Coxshall. HJL are making a great start to the season, and whilst two of their riders are now off to compete in the Commonwealth Games, the team continues to go from strength-to-strength.

Coxshall says, mixing the team with experienced riders and a young grass root approach has proven to be a success so far. Andy Critchlow, a former GB rider who Steve remembers from back in the early 90’s when he was competing, clearly has the background and experience a team like Steve’s need to not only compete in major National B targeted races but to also develop the younger riders with old school values, something Steve and his brand ambassador Malcolm Elliot very much believe in.

“Numbers are great to guide but you can’t beat hard old fashioned passion and strong minds” says Steve. “Arlen Vartazarian, one of our riders this year, has proven this fact with outstanding results so far. Andy has had a strong start to the year finishing 9th overall in the Al Ain Classic in Abu Dhabi and showing strongly in early season road races in the UK including Severn Bridge and the Jock Wadley Memorial”.

Steve says “I’m delighted Andy is now onboard. What he has achieved in the last two years is excellent. He is a great addition to our team. I think this is the right move for Andy to be around a proper team, with infrastructure to support each rider and their needs”.
