News: Hayter & Tanfield Join GB Team

Reigning world and Commonwealth champion Charlie Tanfield has been accepted onto the Great Britain Cycling Team’s men’s endurance podium programme, it was announced today.

Tanfield, who was a member of the gold medal winning team pursuit line-up at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn and the gold medal winner in the individual pursuit at Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, rose to prominence with Team KGF, a British track cycling trade team.

Fellow team pursuit world champion Ethan Hayter makes the step up from the senior academy onto the podium programme following his performances at major events this year.

Tanfield said: “I’m delighted to find out I’ve been selected onto the Great Britain Cycling Team. It’s great to see that all the hard work has paid off.

“I have some very high ambitions which I want to achieve during my cycling career and the Great Britain Cycling Team men’s endurance programme fills me with confidence that I’m the right place

“Racing, living and training with the KGF boys has been absolutely great and I enjoyed every minute of it, even the 7am training sessions. I’ve made some great mates and would like to thank them for a great season of racing and for putting the team together.
