The Ron Brown Memorial 100 (‘The Hounslow 100)

This classic event will be run this Sunday (27th May) on the Farnham – Alton course (A31). There are 75 entrants with the first man off at 7.45. He will be wearing no. 45 as nos. 1-44 are not being used. The HQ is Bentley Memorial Hall. The only surviving 100 in the West London district, it started life as a club event with the legendary Calleva RC in the 1930’s. Taken over by the Hounslow in 1956 it has provided many BBAR qualifying times in the past.

Anyone spectating may want to look out for:

Alice Lethbridge (no. 50) Current National Champion and women’s comp. record holder – qualifying time 3.42.37.
Charles Mitchell (no. 120) Fastest man on paper, q. time 3.31.24.
Andrew Meilak ( no. 110 ) q.time 3.38..04.
Gray Turnock (no. 100) q. time 3.38.07.

And, finally, Mick Fountain (no.46) at 77 years of age the oldest man in the field, and surely worth cheering on just for his work in time trial promotion.2018_MerlinCyclesAdvert
