Result: Stone Wheelers Circuit Race

A TLI Cycling event

Race Distance 2hours plus 3 laps (Approx 55 Miles)
Race Format: Handicap – Over 55s started 6 minutes ahead of the Under 55s

The race started at a frenetic pace with the Under 55s gaining almost 4 minutes on the Over 55s in the first hour’s racing. However due to the heat the pace slowed and after 90 minutes racing the Over 55s still retained a lead of approx 30 seconds. Seven riders from the first group established a lead which at the finish was well over a minute.

Andy Bennett proved the strongest at the finish line to take the win from Kris Zentec. Chris Humphries took third and the next few places were taken by Over 55s.

The majority of riders appreciated the longer distance and race format on a 2.4 mile totally closed road circuit. Some military personnel were on the site and both parties accommodated each other with no incidents.

Thanks to all the helpers from Stone Wheelers, Biker Marshalls and Amanda (organiser’s wife) for doing the admin, licenses and teas and to Kim Jones for her help and enthusiasm with the refreshments! Most importantly, thank you to the riders for turning up and making it a cracking day.
