News: #TOB1DA Ride
Some of the biggest supporters of British cycle sport have joined forces with Phil Jones MBE, managing director of Brother UK, to support his #TOB1DA ride in a bid to raise £50,000 for the Dave Rayner Fund.

Eisberg, the UK’s number one alcohol-free wine, will serve as title sponsor to the epic 1,140km challenge, in which Jones and cycling world record holder James Golding will ride the entire route of the 2018 Tour of Britain, one day ahead of the elite professional riders contesting the race. Andrew Turner of Eisberg Alcohol Free Wine comments: “Phil’s passion and determination for #TOB1DA fits perfectly with Eisberg. We’ve been a determined supporter of the sport since we first successfully sponsored the Tour of Britain in 2016.
“Phil will need to be in peak physical condition to ride 1,140km in just eight days – we’ll have Eisberg on hand to help him raise a glass, without the alcohol, and celebrate after long days in the saddle.”
Jones announced in May that he would tackle the entire route of the 2018 Tour of Britain to celebrate his fiftieth birthday and the fiftieth anniversary of Brother UK. This year also represents the tenth anniversary of his return to the saddle. In addition to sponsorship from Eisberg Wines, Jones and Golding will receive support from a collection of brands from within the cycle industry and beyond.

The pair will be clothed and fuelled by Kalas and Secret Training respectively, while security specialists Solace Global will provide a tracking application that will allow fans and supporters to follow the riders’ progress from a mobile application. Online retailer Velochampion will supply technical equipment.
Jones and Golding will roll out of Carmarthenshire on Saturday September 1, 2018, twenty-four hours before around 150 of the world’s top professionals do the same. The pair will take just one day’s rest in the week ahead, to ensure that they finish the route in London on Sunday September 9, 2018 – the same day as the peloton. The route Jones and Golding will follow around Britain will be especially challenging, having been designed to prepare professional riders for a World Championship course in the peaks surrounding Innsbruck.

Dave Rayner, whose life was cut tragically short following an incident outside a nightclub in Bradford in 1994, was one of the most gifted riders Great Britain has produced. The fund established in his name has helped a host of top British talents, from David Millar to Hannah Barnes. “The opportunity to raise a significant sum for the Dave Rayner Fund has given a broader focus to a personal challenge,” Jones commented.
“The Fund provides a lifeline to young, talented riders who have to develop their careers without the support of Lottery-funded programmes. It’s essential that the vital work of the Fund continues. If we can convince 10,000 people to give £5 each, we’ll reach our fundraising target. By donating the price of a coffee and cake on their Sunday café ride, cyclists in the UK can help to secure the success of the next generation of British professional riders.”

What is #TOB1DA ?
The #TOB1DA ride will see Phil Jones MBE and James Golding ride the entire route of the 2018 Tour of Britain, one day ahead of the race. Jones and Golding will ride to raise £50,000 for the Dave Rayner Fund and to highlight issues of physical and mental health, encouraging men particularly to face health challenges more openly. The pair will leave Carmarthenshire on Saturday September 1, 2018 and ride all eight stages of the race. A single rest day will bring them back into synch with the race for the final stage in London on Sunday September 9, 2018.
