A lighter, stiffer and more aero Estrella Ligero on the way for 2019 – the cable-less look coming to Estrella bikes
New for 2019 – Even More Aero Estrella Ligero
Seeing cables on a bike is becoming less and less as riders go for the ‘cabless’ aero look and the Estrella 2019 Ligero is another bike that is seeing some subtle changes that make it look, and ride, even faster than before.
For 2019, and available to order now, is the even more aero Ligero and the good news for owners of older models, they too will be able to be converted to the new less cable look quite easily. The current model is available to order but with the new model at 2018 prices available to pre-order, those happy to wait will get the latest evolution of this popular bike.
There will be a rim brake and disc brake versions with the rim brake one on the production line first whilst the disc brake one will follow with some subtle differences to it’s stablemate like increased clearances to take 28mm tyres and a different stem.

The Ligero
This super responsive aero and rigid carbon frame built with a mix of Toray T800 and T1000 is perfectly balanced to leave you in total control both when accelerating and braking as well as descending technical descents. The bike’s Cero RC45 carbon clinchers cut through the air whilst remaining stable in cross winds. The frame comes with a sleek aero full carbon seatpost and aero handlebars and is the flagship model of the range.
Much of the focus for this model was on power transmission, which was improved by optimizing the bottom bracket and the chainstays. Newly shaped carbon fibre tubes on the upper, seat and head tube greatly improve the aerodynamics and rigidity of the Ligero frame.
The bottom bracket area has been designed incorporating a direct mount brake which also aids reducing the drag. Former multiple World and Paralympics champion Darren Kenny says of the bike “The bike has the perfect balance of lightweight responsiveness, stiff power transfer and second to none handling. It’s a bike that feels like it’s driving itself forward with the urgency to cross that finish line first”.
This model is compatible with both mechanical and electronic groupsets.
Customers can order the hidden cable version at the 2018 prices (www.estrella-bikes.com/prices/) or contact us for a bespoke build price.
