News: Hell of the Ashdown Sportive 2019

The Catford Cycling Club will be holding their annual sportive, the Hell of the Ashdown (HOTA) on Sunday 17th February 2019. The event is run in aid of the Chartwell Cancer Trust and Aspens with the proceed going towards supporting people with cancer and disabilities.

The HQ for the HOTA is located at Charles Darwin School, Jail Lane, Biggin Hill with the first group of riders setting off at 8am.

The route for 2019 take riders through some of the most beautiful countryside of Kent and Sussex with major climbs including Cudham Test Hill, Toys Hill, Markbeech, Wych Cross, Twyford Lane, Colemans Hatch (The Wall), Groombridge, Hobbs Hill, Hubbards Hill, Hogtrough Hill, and Berrys Hill. In all eleven climbs totalling almost 1900metres of climbing over a distance of 107 kilometres. The course is fully marshalled/signposted to ensure riders get around safely without getting lost.

Mechanics will be presence at the HQ & feed stations plus NEG roving motorbikes on the course to ensure safety with timing provided by HS Sport Ltd.

Catering will be available at the HQ (Start and Finish) with nutrition/refreshments provided at two indoor feed stations at the Ashdown Forest & Sevenoaks Weald courtesy of partner, OTE Sports Ltd.

To promote cycling and raise as much money as possible for charities, there will be a 10% discount for group bookings of six or more, up to a maximum of ten. Entry for the event opened on Guy Fawkes night (5th November 2018; 6:30pm). Only 1500 places are available. So, to avoid disappointment, early registration is recommended as places sell out very fast (http://www.hellgb.co.uk/).
